Olivier grew up in the south of Antwerp and originally had no plans to open a restaurant. He studied economics and obtained an MBA from the European University in Antwerp. He often worked in restaurants to pay for his studies, which explains his passion for cooking. He came into contact with top chef Eddie Van Maelem, Olivier trained with him for five years. After that, he completed placements in a number of top restaurants abroad (mainly in Spain) where he learnt modern cooking techniques.
Inger Blancquaert has led our highly motivated team since 1998. She will be your hostess and will help you choose from our various menus or à la carte dishes. Bart Bronsgeest is on hand to assist you in selecting the right wines to complete your dining experience.
In June 2011, the interior of Kommilfoo underwent a total transformation. We wanted to keep up with the evolution of our cuisine and harmonise our setting with our food. Hostess Inger Blancquaert and interior architect Martine Geusens succeeded in infusing the restaurant with a modern, warm, Zen-like ambience.
The style is based on three accents: wood, comfort and warmth. The restaurant now has beautiful oak floors, adapted lighting, comfortable seats covered in saddle leather, exquisite white linen from De Witte Lietaer and wall coverings from Arte International.
Our table decorations were designed by Pieter Stockmans to match the restaurant’s colour scheme. The result is a peaceful ambience which will contribute to make your dinner or lunch an authentic taste experience.
